More About us

Relocating to a new area is one of the biggest decisions a person can make. Whether you are a student about to leave for University, a couple moving for future job prospects or a family wanting a change and better quality of life. There is no one reason to make such a big change.

However, there are many things to consider when making your decision and here are just a few:

Rental Prices

The most important part of moving. Where are you going to live?

Do your research of the area, especially if you know you need a specifically sized property. Chances are, if you’re moving further South prices are going to become more expensive, whereas if you’re heading North prices will decrease. You can use online blogs and tenant guides to expand your knowledge.

Also, make sure that you look at what you’re getting with the property for the price you’re paying. Do you get a garden? A garage? An allocated parking space? These are all things which will impact the rental amount you will pay for a property.

Cost of Moving

Lastly, consider the costs of moving do you need to hire transport, save for a deposit etc. You will also need to consider who you know who could act as a guarantor for one, as this is something most rental properties will ask for.

Don’t know anyone? Not a problem. Rent Guarantor has the solution. For a one-off fee which is relative to your rental amount, we will become the guarantor for you for a 12-month period, as a relative or friend would do. Leaving you one less thing to worry about!

Price of Goods

Most of the time prices for bigger companies will be standard across the country. However, an independent company may price their goods to fall in line with the rest of the area, as they may not be paying as much to rent/run their establishment compared to if it was based elsewhere.

If you do your research of the area and for example, find local markets to do some of your weekly shop at rather than big chain supermarkets you’ll be surprised at the difference it will make to your budget!

Job Prospects

You may be lucky enough to be moving to a new area because you have already been offered an incredible job opportunity. Sadly, this won’t be the case for everyone.

Search on job websites for a general idea of how many jobs are available in the area, especially if you’re in a competitive field. This also gives you the opportunity to start applying ahead of the move and line up some interviews so you can hit the ground running!

Social Opportunities

What’s the point of moving to a new area if you aren’t going to make any friends? Do your research of local clubs that interest you.

There will be something for everyone, whether it be a weekly book club, running club or dance class. The best way to help you settle into your new home will be becoming a part of the community and embracing the way of life there.

Local Facilities

This is especially important if you are moving with a family. Of course, the house you will be living in, the goods you will be buying and the job that will be supporting the new life take somewhat of a priority...However, explore where you will spend your downtime.

Look for local parks, cinemas and leisure centres. These are the places you will look forward to visiting every week, whether it be alone or with loved ones.

So, to conclude. Relocating will be one of the biggest decisions of your life, leaving everything you know for unknown opportunities. However, by following these steps and remembering the key trick of doing your research ahead of moving, you’ll make the right decision for your future.

Rental deposit rise dwarfed by other costs

While its common to read and hear about how expensive renting is in the UK and that its set to get more expensive in the future, it's less usual to hear that rental costs rises aren't as high as they could be. However, recent research has highlighted that even though rental costs have risen, the increase in rental deposits is much lower than price rises of other costs faced by many Britons.

Good news for tenants as renting costs make up smaller proportion of income

New research has some good news for the UK's army of tenants, as the cost of renting calculated as a proportion of average incomes has fallen between 2019 and 2016. Given that rents have actually been on the rise during much of that period, the findings of the research from the Deposit Protection Service, (DPS) might come as a bit of a surprise.

Fewer Rental Properties Push Rents Higher

Average UK rents rose in 2019, as a lack of available properties to satisfy tenant demand pushed them higher. Ongoing Brexit and political uncertainty combined with changing regulations worked to weigh on investor demand for property. However, while tenants will likely face higher rents for some months, research suggests there are signs that Buy-To-Let (BTL) investors are now showing interest in investing anew in the sector.

Brexit effect on UK property prices positive for overseas and expat investors
